Overview

Knowledge Services has an excellent opportunity for a Compliance Specialist at our Indianapolis headquarters.  

This position will play a key part of Corporate Compliance and will provide support and assistance of compliance activities as it pertains to the application and adherence of policy as mandated by regulations or best practice.

Responsibilities

What you get to do!

 

  • Work to ensure that the activities of Knowledge Services and their employees, programs, systems, etc. adhere to any relevant regulations, controls, and guidelines established by the government, regulating bodies, or internal policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the general administration and delivery of corporate compliance initiatives and education activities and tasks.
  • Create, update, and maintain policy and procedure documentation that reflects the goals and culture of Knowledge Services, while accurately writing and capturing the control requirements of our compliance drivers.
  • Help ensure that risk areas for the company are routinely identified and monitored, policies and procedures cover identified risk areas, and policies and procedures are communicated and are in line with Knowledge Services code of ethics and regulatory requirements.

Expectations:

  • Continuously review and update internal policy and procedural documentation in response to the changing needs of the company, existing or new laws, or governing regulations. Provide periodic status reports and metrics. 
  • Obtain a good working knowledge and keeps abreast of current regulations such as HIPAA, NIST, and FedRAMP. Ability to research, collect, and use reference materials from authoritative sources and credited organizations. Supports Corporate Compliance projects and initiatives by coordinating, collecting, and reposing documentation and artifacts.
  • Assist with internal or 3rd party Risk Assessments, Business Impact Analysis, Business Continuity Planning, Emergency Response Planning, Disaster Recovery, or other Compliance initiatives. Participates in and demonstrates professional judgement when conducting regulatory / compliance-related audits. Review business practices to ensure pertinent regulations are followed. In the case of non-compliance, identify gaps and required controls and create a plan to implement the changes necessary. Assist in investigations and remediation of issues or events.
  • Schedule and coordinate quarterly entitlement reviews and periodic acquisition of control evidence to meet various requirements.
  • Assist in evangelizing the company’s compliance policies and procedures as it applies to guidelines, management directives, and compliance programs. Lead by example and promote compliance in all facets. Assists in Corporate Compliance training programs and initiatives.
  • Be at ease when dealing with businesses, employees, and managers in a tactful and professional way. Ability to work with both internal and external parties both on and off-site. Create and sustain great rapport with others.
  • Continually offer suggestions and improvements that are both effective and efficient while adhering to any existing policy or governing control.
  • Attend training seminars, both on and off-site to gain knowledge and expertise in the Compliance arena.
  • Attend meetings as required. Be prepared to speak to Compliance issues or concerns.

Qualifications

  • Analytic, with the ability to provide practical solutions for minimizing risk and implementing controls. Ability to think outside the box to both recognize and analyze risk areas as well as proposed solutions.
  • Result and detail oriented, with the ability to see and understand different perspectives and how those could be applied to solutions or to specific situations.
  • Assertive but tactful while always demonstrating strong inter-personal skills. Ability to ask the difficult questions with the right tone and tenor., demonstrating both knowledge and understanding.
  • Able to work well under pressure while supporting several initiatives simultaneously in a fast paced, diverse, and often changing environment.
  • Able to think and have a common-sense approach when applying controls and regulatory requirements to current or future business practices. Being adaptable to situations and issues where a black and white answer is not always the right solution.
  • Self-motivated, determined, and confident.
  • At ease in front of others. Able to speak in front of small or large groups.
  • A team player, with the ability to work independently but also thrive in a team environment to help deliver Compliance’s projects or initiatives.
  • Able to be relied on, dependable, and principled.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent years of experience.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.
  • Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision requirements:  Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
