    Our client is looking for a Social Services Specialist to work in their hospital in Richmond, IN.


    Shift: 8AM-4:30PM (weekends will be required but they will alternate)

    Starting Salary: $30,082 with potential performance increase when hired on after contract

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Social Services Specialist provides advanced social work services to psychiatric patients. Employee is an integral part of patients’ treatment team and provides in-depth psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and liaison services for the patient. Employee works with the gatekeeper, family, guardian or representative, and external agencies in providing resources that assist patient with recovery.


    • Serves as social worker and/or case manager as assigned
    • Completes social services assessments with patients in AVATAR
    • Informs/educates patients on their rights (guaranteed & conditional).
    • Completes release of information forms (advanced directives, human rights, and HIPAA release forms) with the patient or other patient representative/guardian.
    • Presents patient cases at treatment team meetings or patient staffing identifying problems and treatment approaches and leading meetings to the successful development of treatment plans
    • Maintains a caseload of patients providing pre-admission evaluations, progress notes, consultations with families, and daily patient consultations.
    • Prepares discharge plans in collaboration with mental health centers, family or representative, and other agencies.
    • Accompanies unit-assigned patient on date of discharge to ensure continuity of care in linking them with local mental health center.
    • Needs to be available to serve as another Social Worker’s back-up in accompanying a patient upon discharge in linking them with their local CMHC.
    • Assists patients in developing community living skills. Promotes continuing care in communities through comprehensive discharge planning.
    • Consults with and visits various other social service agencies to assist in individual care and to develop and maintain ongoing working relationships.
    • Thorough knowledge of computer use, AVATAR, and ANSA certification required.
    • Completes necessary continuing education training, certifications, and/or licensure requirements.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    This person is required to have the following: MSW, LAC OR LCAC OR LCSW/LMFT and have an LAC OR LCAC.



    • Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of social work and recovery.
    • Specialized knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines for the care, treatment, and right of those with mental illness, developmental delay, and other special populations and/or needs.
    • Specialized knowledge of case management, assessment, active treatment, and continuum of care.
    • Practical knowledge of community social service agencies and ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with them.
    • Working knowledge of other treatment disciplines such as rehabilitation therapy, psychology, dietetics, and nursing. Ability to integrate these disciplines into overall treatment plans for inpatient clients and while discharge planning.
    • Working knowledge of hospital, departmental, the recovery model and integrated dual disorders treatment.
    • Ability to organize and maintain effective social services community programs and to maintain effective working relationships with community service agencies.
    • Ability to formulate and implement individual treatment plans.
    • Ability to counsel and communicate clear, concise communication with patients, families, other team, and other agencies.
    • Assess patient needs, document [movement] progress, and record/update treatment plans as needed.
    • Train professional and Para-professional staff in treatment modalities.
    • Current knowledge of hospital bridge building and CPR techniques.
    • Obtain ANSA certification.
    • Flexible work hours required.
