    Knowledge Services is searching for an Oracle Database Support Analyst for a long-term project (18-24 months) at the State of TN in Nashville.  This position is not open for C2C and incumbent will work 37.5 hours/week M-F.  This position is predominantly Tier 3 support that is needed to debug, test, correct, and document data issues that are received into the the State's Oracle database during a legacy application upgrade project.

    Responsibilities

    The Department of Education at the State of TN has approximately 22 custom developed applications that are in regular use throughout the year that are in connection to an Oracle Database. The average age of these applications is 10 years.

    The applications do not adhere to best practices for security, performance, scalability, and maintainability and no documentation exists for these systems. Business continuity for the agency is severely jeopardized by these applications and several severe security vulnerabilities exist, requiring that theses applications be replaced or rewritten as a matter of urgency.  It will take approx. 18-24 months to redevelop all agency applications and all FTE staff have been allocated to this important process. Due to the ongoing usage of these applications and regular requests received for changes to support changing business conditions, a "sustained engineering" team is needed while the redevelopment takes place.
    Tier 3 support for the Help Desk is needed to debug, test, correct, and document data issues that are received into the State's Oracle database.

     

    Daily Responsibilities include:
    - Implement change requests for small to medium functional modifications or enhancements to Legacy Applications (40%)
    - Remediate new, existing errors and Tier 3 support from tickets to correct data issues and root causes in Oracle Database with expertise in PL/SQL (30%)
    - Remediate bugs, defects and functional non-conformities in customer developed application software, currently used within the agency (Legacy Applications) - (20%)
    - Create documentation for workflows and proactive remediation for Legacy Applications, including; security vulnerabilities, operating system and platform migrations and inherent design flaws (10%)

    Qualifications

     

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.
    • Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Vision requirements:  Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
