    Our client is looking for an LPN in Logansport, IN.

     

    Shift: 12.5 hour shift; 7:30AM - 9PM (three days a week and every other weekend)

    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY:  

    The purpose of the position is provide assistance to physicians and registered nurses, administer medication, coordinate the delivery of physical/psychosocial care to assigned clients and maintain a therapeutic environment.  

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Adheres to the ANA standards for psychiatric nurses.
    • Perform duties within the scope of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
    • Assists and consults with the registered nurse in developing daily nursing activities and providing active treatment for patients.
    • Assists the special attendants with daily nursing activities and providing active treatment for patients.
    • Communicates vital signs, consult recommendations and all testing results to the registered nurse, physician, nurse practitioner or psychiatrist.
    • Monitors and reports the symptoms and behavior patterns of psychiatric clients.
    • Recognizes and communicates the signs and symptoms of medical and psychiatric illness.
    • Follows the recovery role model to prevent restraint and seclusion.
    • Knows the use, side effects, lab testing and administration procedures for medications according to policies and safety practices.
    • Knowledgeable on policies and procedures.
    • Maintains competency and skills in CPR/AED, Bridge Building, IV, TB, Accucheck, V/S monitor, Reliable Health System, Med Select, and Avatar.
    • Participates in treatment team updates when requested.
    • Ensures that HIPPA regulations are followed to ensure patient confidentiality.
    • Provides patient groups and medication education.
    • Demonstrates an understanding of infection control practices and utilizes standard precautions.
    • Adheres to the problem oriented documentation format.
    • Collaborates and functions with all other team members to provide safe, effective patient care.

    Qualifications

    • Licensed as a licensed practical nurse in the State of Indiana from an accredited school of nursing. Experience in developmental disability, geriatric, or psychiatric nursing is helpful, but not required.
    • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
    • Certified in professional rescuer CPR/AED, IV, and TB.
    • Excels in both written and verbal interpersonal & communication skills.
    • Must be able to work overtime.
