    Knowledge Services is searching for a Java Developer for a project through 6/30/2019 for the State of Nevada.  Candidate must sit on-site in Carson City, NV.

    Responsibilities

    Come up to speed on the existing SilverFlume application including design, architectures, existing technical and business documentation, environment, process, procedures, code base, and database;
    Discuss high level architecture with the architect, project manager, business manager, business analyst, IT team, and partners to understand direction and provide valuable feedback;
    Work with the team on reviewing and fleshing out the business and technical requirements, project schedule, and new environment planning (servers, database, development, test and rollout planning);
    Work with the architect to create detailed work flows, work break down schedules, detailed functionality requirements based on the high-level business and technical requirements;
    Work with the SilverFlume Architect on technical design and database migration;
    Make coding changes and debug code for existing application using Java and open source modules (Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server 2012+, Apache Tomcat, Spring, CAS, Hibernate, Jasper Reports, Quartz, Tinymce, Lucene, Log4J, Eclipse, and other tools as needed);
    Make coding changes & debug web services code;
    Help in writing technical and operator manual documentation for the SilverFlume product;
    Help in testing and production activities including writing and running test scripts to validate functionality and fix issues;

    Provide technical upgrades, configuration and debugging support for online mixed-environment production applications; and
    Provide updates and status reports as requested.

     

    Consultant must provide the following based on the agreed upon project plan/schedule:
    Architecture and design documents;
    Source code;
    Configuration documentation;
    Unit tests and documentation;
    Working proof-of-concept environment on target architecture;
    Project status and updates; and
    Weekly status reports to include, but not be limited to:
    Overall completion status of the project in terms of the approved project plan and schedule;
    Problems that were encountered and proposed/actual resolutions;
    Issues that need to be addressed;
    Accomplishments during the period; and
    Activities to be accomplished during the next reporting period.

     

    Qualifications

    Seven (7) to nine (9) years’ experience developing, debugging and upgrading online web applications using Oracle Java SE, Oracle WebLogic, Apache Tomcat, Hibernate, Oracle DB, and Microsoft SQL Server 2012+;
    Excellent planning, design, coding, unit testing, and troubleshooting skills, including developing and maintaining associated documentation artifacts;
    Attention to detail;
    Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience developing using Agile methodologies;
    The ability to work in a team environment to develop applications; and
    BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field with advanced degree and Java certification(s).

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.
    • Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Vision requirements:  Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
