    Our client is looking for an LPN in Indianapolis, IN. This position is a long term temporary position that can lead to permanent placement.


    Shift Available:

    Shift times are: Days: 6:30am-3pm; Evenings: 2:30pm-11pm

    If a candidate will work 5 day weeks and every other weekend the facility will try to keep them on one unit. Otherwise they cannot work more than 3 days/week!

    Provides direct patient care as assigned by the registered nurse. Assists the RN with unit supervision.  Responsible for accurate administration of medications and treatments.  Responsible for unit functions in assigned areas. Works under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide nursing care to patients, helping them to meet their physical and emotional needs. 



    • Administers medications and treatments according to hospital policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrates safe and timely administration of medication, including recognition of side effects.  Reports side effects of medications to RN.
    • Recognizes the need for PRN medications and reports need to RN.  Consistently follows controlled substance procedures.
    • Carries out or assists with the physical care of patients.
    • Recognizes physical problems and intervenes with first aid and emergency treatment. Reports any significant changes in patients' mental or physical condition to RN. Provides assistance with ADL’s (bathing, eating, oral hygiene, and elimination, etc.).
    • Gives input to team members regarding patient needs/problems.
    • Provides nursing programs using basic therapeutic techniques.
    • Monitors and intervenes with agitated or aggressive patients using CPI techniques.
    • Documents effectiveness of PRN medications, medication side effects and all crisis interventions.
    • Transcribes orders accurately and completely following ESH nursing procedures.
    • Assists RN with unit supervision.
    • Gives and receives Change of Shift report of unit when RN is not available.
    • Ensures that all patients are getting adequate care with ADL’s, meals, etc. by giving direction to RAs when RN is not available or as needed.
    • Coordinates with other staff to see that all shift duties are carried out (census, unit reports, charting, medical treatments, etc.).
    • Orients/assists with teaching new employees during basic orientation and when assigned to the unit.
    • Serves on hospital committees and work groups.
    • Coordinates with other services or departments to support good patient care (laundry,  dietary, lab, dental, etc.).
    • Attends required hospital/department in-services.
    • Maintains CPR certification.
    • Initiates and participates in therapeutic interventions by using principles of de-escalation, re-direction and approved CPI techniques for prevention and management of behavior.
    • Demonstrates ability to deal therapeutically with adverse behavior.
    • Recognizes psychiatric emergencies and intervenes appropriately.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of treatment plan objectives and goals, and appropriately follows such.
    • Observes and accurately documents on chart/flow sheets, using proper format, terminology and forms.
    • Follows safety standards and precautions, policies and procedures and regulations.
    • Safely demonstrates the ability to apply restraint/seclusion procedures per policy.
    • Demonstrates consistent interaction and approach with the patients and co-workers. Maintains respectful attitude towards patients, staff and others.
    • Properly and consistently utilizes standard precautions.
    • Completes unit housekeeping duties as indicated.



    • License to practice nursing in the State of Indiana as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
    • Active certification in CPR and CPI.
    • Good verbal and written communications skills.
    • Basic computer skills
