    Knowledge Services is actively seeking a Solutions Architect for a contract to hire opportunity with our client, the State of TN’s Department of Treasury in downtown Nashville, TN. State of TN contractors and employees work 37.5 hours per week.


    The Solution Architect is responsible for creating and maintaining application architectures necessary to meet the needs of Treasury while maximizing extensibility, scalability, and reuse. This position will be expected to understand the business, translate functional and customer requirements into technical architecture and design, and execute on these needs in an effective and timely manner.

    The Tennessee Department of Treasury impacts the lives of Tennesseans every day. Treasury is responsible for many of the financial operations of state government, including managing more than $60 billion in assets through its various investment programs. We administer the State’s Retirement Program, RetireReadyTN, which combines the state pension plan, Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System, and the State’s Deferred Compensation plan. Treasury serves all Tennesseans by helping to educate and empower them to make smart financial choices, and by providing public-serving programs in the areas of college savings, financial literacy, unclaimed property, criminal injuries compensation, and more.


    • Provide solution architectural oversight to one or more teams of developers
    • Research new technologies and general computer industry trends and developments to maintain ongoing technological viability.
    • Create detailed documentation of solution architecture and design.
    • Proactively find new ways of extending our current solutions.
    • Drive continuous improvement efforts to support team, actions and deliverables.
    • Working closely with the Business Analysts and/or Business Architects, ensure new solutions fit within Treasury’s standard architecture framework.



    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
    • Previous experience in application and/or infrastructure support.
    • 7+ years of web-based application development, using but not limited to .NET, JAVA, JavaScript, and database programming languages.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • 2+ years of experience working in a team environment with minimal supervision.
    • 7+ years of experience with database development in popular RDBMS (T-SQL & PL/SQL).
    • 7+ years of experience developing .NET, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, JAVA.
    • Experience with TOGAF, DODAF, Gang of Four, Struts, and Spring
    • General knowledge working with Windows and Linux (RHEL) environments.


    • Previous experience doing business intelligence and analytics development.
    • Proven examples of an ability to adapt to and learn new technologies and features with limited direction or guidance.
    • Strong working knowledge of infrastructure components and how they relate to application support.
