    Our client is looking for a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in Indianapolis. This is a contract role through the end of the year.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Coordinate, support, and enhance existing and developing SANE programs in the State of Indiana, building infrastructure and alliances with appropriate non-profit and state agencies to promote consistent, professional and victim-oriented medical and forensic response and treatment of acute sexual assault victims.

    • Decrease SANE program isolation, creating opportunities for networking and building rapport among SANE programs, acting as a centralized contact for programs in the state.
    • Research, identify and promote best practices, working to create consistency among programs, ensuring that recommended exam protocols and equipment are met, and supporting data collection and reporting.
    • Create multiple methods for communication among SANE programs including Internet list serve, newsletters, meetings and on-site visits.
    • Provide technical assistance to for existing and new SANE programs in the state
    • Coordinate and strengthen communications among SANE medical directors, community SART/MDT, and hospitals for existing and developing SANE programs.
    • Coordinate and implement SANE training activities.  Coordination should focus on initial and continuing education, developing criteria for clinical preceptor skills, maintaining list of training attendees, dates/sites and cadre of instructors and creating opportunities for continuing education for SANE nurses.
    • Establish alliances and act as liaison with the State of Indiana’s Board of Nursing, Indiana State Department of Health, Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council, universities, and other related state, local and federal agencies.
    • Coordinate and strengthen the network of agencies involved in SANE operations, recruiting non-traditional members in SART and cross-training, and forming alliances to conduct research and evaluation of SANE operations.
    • Support and coordinate community education, public outreach, media coordination, and legislative support when appropriate to SANE issues for the state.
    • Exercise fiscal prudence, integrity, and oversight of public and private funds, including timely submission of fiscal and operational reports, adherence to the state’s fiscal and personnel policies, and securing additional funds as needed for sustained operations of the position.

    Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Masters Degree in Nursing or related field. 
    • Access to a car and valid driver’s license; this position requires some travel within the State of Indiana
    • Experience in grant writing, public speaking, adult instruction, technical writing, program development, and coordinated community response. 
    • Knowledge in SANE operations, programs, policies and protocols.  Familiarity with forensics, crime lab procedures, emergency medical terminology and procedures, victim advocacy, and violence against women agencies.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft office applications and Internet.
