Overview

Knowledge Services is actively seeking a full-time Treatment Counselor for our client in Winchester, IN. The Treatment Counselor is responsible for completing pre-screens, bio psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and substance abuse treatment to assigned clients. 

Responsibilities

  • Complete pre-screen assessments on referred clients to determine eligibility.
  • Conduct bio psychosocial assessments, substance abuse assessments, and other relevant assessments within appropriate time-lines.
  • Develop preliminary diagnosis, treatment plan, and assessment within 24 hours of admission to treatment.
  • Develop individual treatment plans and maintain individual client files according to VOA, DCS, Medicaid, CARF, DHMA, and grant provider’s standards.
  • Provide individual therapy to address mental health and addiction needs.
  • Provide family therapy as needed to address mental health and addiction needs.
  • Provide group therapy to address mental health and addiction needs.
  • Participate in and collaborate with the identified treatment team to ensure high quality programming and continuum of care.
  • Consult with the access team regarding appropriateness of incoming clients as needed.
  • Provide accurate and therapeutically sound interpretive summaries based on assessment of clients’ strengths, needs, abilities, and problems.
  • Assess client’s readiness to advance phases and discharge from programming.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, that meets the criteria for Medicaid and other payor billing.
  • Complete substance use and other required reassessments in a timely manner to comply with Medicaid standards.
  • Obtain or maintain appropriate licensing level.
  • Comply with all HIPAA requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating referrals and link clients with needed services, resources, and supports in the community as needed.
  • Complete court and other requested reports as needed.
  • Attend court as requested by appropriate community partners (i.e.  the Department of Child Services, Probation Offices) as needed.
  • Complete DCS monthly reports in collaboration with the treatment team, within contractual guidelines.
  • Make DCS child abuse reports as required by Indiana State law as a mandated reporter.
  • Provide specialized training in the areas of clinical competence.
  • Provide specialized training in the areas of clinical competence.
  • Atten treatment team meeting, clinical staffing and individual supervision meetings.
  • Protect client rights and confidentiality in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or related field.
  • The individual must be working toward obtaining Indiana state licensure or be licensed in the State of Indiana.
  • 2 years of experience providing services to clients affected by the child welfare and/or criminal justice system and/or working with mental health or substance use disordered population(s), is preferred. 
  • The candidate should have the ability to conduct individual and group therapy, assessment, develop resources, and maintain client records. 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and abilities and be able to communicate appropriately and effectively in sensitive and/or demanding situations.  Must demonstrate the ability to professionally represent Volunteers of America, and effectively interact with multi-cultural and diverse populations.
  •  Licensure or plan to obtain licensure preferred: LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, or LCAC.  Some evening hours and rotating on-call hours are required.
  • Some evening hours and rotating on-call hours may be required. Must be able to operate Microsoft applications, organize and prioritize work, time management, meet deadlines and operate office equipment.  Position requires work schedule flexibility; travel may be required.
