Overview

Knowledge Services is seeking a Medical Assistant for our client's that are experts in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases located in Carmel, IN with occasional travel to Greenfield location. This is a contract to hire opportunity with the potential for full-time, permanent employment!

 

Description: Primarily responsible for the management of patient care representing their assigned physician. 

Responsibilities

  • Acts as main source of communication with the patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies the physician of the patient's condition and reaction to medications, treatments, and any other abnormality.
  • Handles patient emergency situations for new and established patients via phone &/or in-person.
  • Maintains physician surgery schedule.This includes scheduling surgery with facility, preparing H&Ps, insuring necessary equipment is available, and notifying patient of arrival time. Also provide patient/family with pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
  • Precertification of surgical procedure(s) must be completed in full prior to surgery. Be sure all clearances (ie:cardiac, renal, anesthesia) have been met.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient and family.
  • Prepares/escribes prescription(s) refill medication requests.
  • Communicates with outside physicians when necessary.
  • Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, and equipment for office examinations/procedures as necessary.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, dispose of contaminated supplies,and sterilize instruments.
  • Assists physician in the examination and treatment of patient when necessary.
  • Initiates patient history by interviewing/documenting chief complaints, previous and current symptoms, testing, medications, and allergies.
  • Attend departmental and staff meetings as necessary.

Qualifications

1. Graduated from a certified Medical Assistant Program. 4-5 years of Medical Assistant experience highly preferred.

 

2. Able to multitask and effectively manage time.

 

3. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients to physicians, managers, and outside contacts.

 

4. Able to communicate clearly and with compassion.

 

5. Able to problem solve and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.
