Overview

Knowledge Services is seeking a Senior Database Analyst for a contract to hire opening with the State of Indiana Department of Revenue.   Amazing work-life balance working 37 1/2 hrs per week, hybrid work schedule after 90 days, and full state benefits after conversion!

Responsibilities

Senior Database Analyst Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide technical solutions that align with organizational goals.
• Conduct regular database (SQL Server and Oracle database) capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements to support future growth.
• Designs API's and provides guidance to feature teams for implementation and documentation.
• Ensure system design allows all components to work together properly. Writes difficult code for complex problems and provides engineering and leadership as needed.
•  Ensure the security and integrity of servers, databases, etc. by implementing appropriate access controls, monitoring systems, and data encryption mechanisms.
• Install, maintain Indiana Tax System (ITS) system architecture - including Reporting, Batch process. And customize 3rd party products, (Python, Azure, .Net Core, Java, iManage and many other Tech solutions) used to support information system.
• Lead and participate in database-related projects, including migrations, upgrades, and data conversions.
• Listens to business problems and works with business to codify requirements and then document project's technical design, process, and business process solutions.
• Make recommendations for the development and implementation of teams’ strategic plan for all servers and systems.
• Manage, Design, Implement and Maintain database systems (MS SQL & Oracle), including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, and performance tuning on both Windows and Linux server environments.
• Member of the on-call, rotational support staff.
• Optimize database performance by analyzing query execution plans, monitoring resource utilization, and implementing performance tuning strategies.
• Prepare project feasibility studies, compute time and cost estimates, human resources, and equipment requirements, as it relates to database administration.
• Promotes responsible technical practices (including automated unit and stress testing, technology for data security, resiliency, scalability, etc.)
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs, sharing best practices and fostering a collaborative team environment. Assist, direct, train and review work of less experienced staff.
• Stay up to date with emerging database and server technologies, security, industry trends, and best practices, and evaluate their applicability to the organization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, working closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and vendors.

Qualifications

Senior Database Analyst Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior-level Database Analyst (DBA) position with network, security and server administration, scripting/software development in PowerShell, Python, .Net.

• Highly experienced in MSSQL Server, Oracle DBMS, Windows/Linux Servers, Security
• Strong proficiency in database administration for both Windows and Linux server environments.
• Proficiency with information technologies in a secure network environment.
• Extensive knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
• Possess a high level of initiative and is highly thorough and dependable.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complexities of technical programs.
• Knowledge of Cloud technology (Azure DevOps, Log Analytics, etc.)
• Proven experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting database issues.
• Solid understanding of database backup and recovery strategies.
