Overview

Knowledge Services is seeking an IT Project Manager for a multi-year contract with the State of Maine Office of Technology.   Applicants should be local to Augusta, ME and able to work onsite for a few months, and then move to a hybrid work model.  Occasional travel will be possible to BMV offices throughout Maine.

Responsibilities

IT Project Manager Responsibilities:

• BMV seeks to contract a professional with IT-related project management experience to lead the business efforts surrounding modernization of our internal software applications.

• This professional must sustain a functional relationship with their key counterpart, the IT Project Manager for Modernization.

• The Project Manager directs, controls, administers, and regulates an enhancement or development program.

• The Project Manager’s primary responsibility is to drive the entire effort from start to finish.

• The Project Manager must ensure that the program is completed on schedule, on budget, and that the final product meets the business, technical, and established quality requirements.

 

Project Planning and Execution:
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Define project scope, goals, and deliverables and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
• Lead project teams and coordinate resources to execute project tasks and achieve project milestones.
• Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and identify risks and issues proactively.
• Implement effective project management methodologies and best practices to optimize project outcomes.

 

 Stakeholder Management:
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, developers, designers, and other project team members.
• Communicate project status, updates, and risks to stakeholders regularly and facilitate decision-making processes as needed.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment on project priorities, requirements, and timelines.

 

Team Leadership and Development:
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Set clear goals and expectations for team members and provide regular feedback on performance.
• Identify training and development needs for team members and support their professional growth and skill enhancement.

 

Quality Assurance and Risk Management:
• Implement quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of software deliverables to identify and address defects and issues.
• Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential impact on project success.

 

Client Relationship Management:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
• Manage client expectations and negotiate changes to project scope, schedule, and budget as necessary.
• Foster positive client relationships through proactive communication, transparency, and a commitment to delivering value.

Qualifications

IT Project Manager Required Skills:

• Must have at least 5+ years of IT Project Management experience

• Must have prior experience supporting large IT modernization project experience

• Strong understanding of software development methodologies.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Smartsheet and Resource Manager or other similar tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering results and driving project success.
• Experience in client-facing roles and managing client relationships is preferred.

• PMP is a preferred, but not required
