Tax Analyst IV

Knowledge Services is seeking a Tax Analyst for a 6-month contract opportunity. This person will be required to work on-site in our client's office located on the southwest side of Indianapolis.

• Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:00pm EST
• $18 per hour  
• Knowledge Services offers medical, dental, vision and voluntary life insurance 
• Anticipated start date is January 6, 2025
• Tax law knowledge is not required and training will be provided

A Tax Analyst performs a variety of tax processing and public assistance duties relative to the payment and collection of various state taxes.

• Reviews and analyzes bankruptcy filings, notices, dismissals and discharges to ensure compliance with the Bankruptcy court regarding filings, notices, claims, payments
• Completes compliance examinations on various Department of Revenue tax returns and State information in ITS, Federal tax returns, and other related systems to assure accuracy of State tax returns
• Provides customer service and assistance to taxpayers by advising, instructing, and furnishing information with respect to taxes collected by the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR)
• Interprets and applies State and Federal tax laws, rules, regulations and other legal resources in identifying and resolving technical tax problems
• Perform in-house desk examinations for both tax liability/refund analyses
• Create new/additional tax liabilities for taxes due
• Completes compliance examinations to determine the validity and accuracy of amended tax returns for various tax types 

Training program provided for data processing system and procedures for individual income tax return processing.

• High School diploma or GED
• High attention to detail
• Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing 
• Must have experience with MS Office
