Knowledge Services is seeking an Application Support Analyst (AS/400) for a 6-month project (potential for extension) in support of the State of North Dakota.
Application Support Analyst Overview:
• The State of North Dakota Information Technology Department is looking for an Application Systems Analyst/Programmer with a focus on AS400 to analyze and enhance data exports from an IBM AS400 (iSeries) system to support operational needs.
• This role requires strong AS400 expertise, data analysis skills, and the ability to develop new export processes if existing files are insufficient.
Responsibilities:
• Review and analyze flat files exported from AS400 systems for usability in operational workflows.
• Identify gaps or issues in current export structure and recommend solutions.
• Design and develop replacement export files if necessary, ensuring compatibility with downstream systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand operational requirements and data needs.
• Perform testing and validation of new or modified export processes.
• Document technical specifications and procedures for future reference.
• Compliance with any related state IT standards and requirements.
• Participate in project work, as directed by the program manager, and as assigned by the project management team, the approved project plans, and the approved project schedules.
Application Support Analyst Required Skills:
• At least 2 years hands on experience successfully analyzing AS400 files and code and the ability to produce a relational export file from the AS400 database.
• Hands-on experience with IBM AS400 (iSeries) systems and data export processes.
• Proficiency in RPG, SQL, CL, and other AS400 programming languages.
• Strong understanding of flat file structures and data transformation.
• Proven experience working in cross-functional project teams with strong communication, problem-solving, and accurate documentation skills of technical deliverables.
Nice to Have:
• Consulting or operational support experience with the AS/400 including stakeholder engagement, job monitoring/troubleshooting, and process/documentation improvements.
