Laboratory Technician

Knowledge Services is seeking a Laboratory Technician for a 24-month contract working onsite at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.

• Work schedule is Monday - Friday from 8am-5pm.

• Pay rate is $14/hr

Laboratory Technician Overview:

•  Purdue is looking for a Laboratory Technician resource to work in their lab and has interest in research using zebrafish as a model and learn how a small fish helps to promote human health.

•  This role has the opportunity to experience rigorous biological scientific research.

Responsibilities:
•  Routine zebrafish facility maintenance and general laboratory support and management, such as buffer preparation, autoclaving, sample storage and inventory, and reagents ordering and receiving.
•  Adult and larval fish husbandry.
•  Zebrafish fin clipping and genotyping.
•  Working with graduate students to perform basic laboratory experiments, such as PCR, DNA agarose electrophoresis, Western blot, and imaging using fluorescence scopes.

Laboratory Technician Required Skills:

•  A bachelor's degree in biology or another science related field is prioritized.
•  Basic Laboratory experience

Preferred Skills:
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•  Experience working in a university or large institutional setting
•  Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•  Strong time management abilities, with an emphasis on accuracy
•  Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
