Knowledge Services is currently seeking a Technical Writer for a contract through the end of June 2027 (potential for extension) with the State of Indiana Public Retirement System INPRS.
Work Location: 100% onsite in Downtown Indianapolis with a potential to move to a hybrid work model
Pay Rate: $22-25/hour
Technical Writer Responsibilities include:
• A document control administrator is responsible for managing, updating, organizing, and storing documents and information within an organization or project.
• Plays a critical role in ensuring that organizational documents are accurate, accessible, and compliant. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• Review and revise procedures, forms, and supporting documents to deliver to staff.
• Manage updates to procedures, forms, and documents in a document management database (PolicyTech) and shared network.
• Edit, and and/or revise the following:
o Procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals
o Policy documents based on agency governance rules and state/administrative statutes/rules.
• Maintain, update, and archive when applicable in the following:
o Documentation management system (DMS)
o Learning management system (LMS)
o Shared network
• Meet with staff to obtain relevant information to update Conduct walk-thru meetings for revisions.
• Communicate with associates and departments about project updates and planned projects.
• Adhere to content creation requirements and style guide resources.
• Review and revise State Forms in coordination with the Indiana State Forms Agency
• Regularly audit and review documents to ensure accuracy of processes and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain consistent document control practices.
• Ensure procedures are current and maintained in PolicyTech (document management system).
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Distribute project-related information and prepare ad-hoc reports.
• Archive outdated documents.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Technical Writer Qualifications include:
• Must possess at least 3 years of technical writing experience.
• Communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with project teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with project teams.
• Excellent writing, editing, and grammatical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and consistency to handle multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to create and maintain collaborative working relationships with other associates.
• Ability to set up, manage, and conduct both in-person and virtual meetings.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently or as a team, as needed.
• At a minimum, intermediate knowledge of the following:
o Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams
o Adobe Acrobat Pro/DC for both conversion and editing
• Ability to learn with only minimal instruction the following:
o Document management system (DMS)
o Learning Management System (LMS)
Education and Experience:
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Library Science, or related fields.
