Our client is looking for a Registered Nurse for the day shift in Logansport, IN.

 

Shift Hours: 7AM to 3:30PM, and every other weekend

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The purpose of the job is to function as patient care manager coordinating unit operations, on the assigned shift, to ensure continuity of care and treatment goals. The incumbent provides clinical direction to non-professional nursing staff by delegating work and assignments appropriately while providing feedback to the employees regarding behavior and performance.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to the ANA standards of care for psychiatric nurses.
  • Performs duties within the scope of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to perform a head-to-toe assessment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret vital signs and all test results providing the appropriate intervention(s) as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize signs and symptoms of medical and psychiatric illnesses, communicating findings to the physician,nurse practitioner or psychiatrist.
  • Adheres to the recovery role model to prevent restraint and seclusion.
  • Experience with the administration and effects of medications.
  • Administers medications accurately according to policy and procedure with safety precautions.
  • Assigns and supervises staff medication administration.
  • Knowledgeable on policies and procedures and ensures they are followed.
  • Communicates procedural or other changes to the staff.
  • Maintains competency and skills in CPR/AED, Bridge Building, IV, TB, accucheck, Reliable Health System, Medselect and Avatar.
  • Participates on treatment team collaborating with all disciplines.
  • Provides immediate feedback to subordinates regarding performance and behavior.
  • Ensures that HIPPA regulations are followed to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Provides groups,education and counseling to clients.
  • Directs staff in providing patient care.
  • Ensures the safety of both patients and staff.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of infection control practices and utilizes standard precautions.
  • Adheres to the problem oriented documentation format.
  • Transcribes orders accurately and legibly.
  • Assesses and intervenes with agitated, psychotic, escalating patients with focus on patient and staff safety.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.
  • Bachelors Degree or Associate Degree from an accredited school of nursing. Associate Degree accepted with three (3) years full-time professional experience in developmental disability, geriatric, or psychiatric nursing.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Certified in professional rescuer CPR/AED, IV, and TB.
  • Excel in both written and verbal interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime.
